DIPLOMA 2003

On Tuesday July 1, 2003 in the name of the Tresure Fund of the Serbian Unity Congress awards were given to the best students of the graduating class at the University of Applied Arts. In the halls of the Museum "25th of May" in Belgrade the awards were handed out in a very formal atmosphere in an overflowing museum, by the representatives of the Tresure Fund from the United States, Mr. Vladimir Vukicevic and Ms. Anna Vrska.

In front of about thousand art enthusiasts who gathered, the media, graduating seniors and their relatives, friends and of course professors, just before the awards were given the Treasure Fund was briefly introduced. This is the fifth year that the Serbian Unity Congress through the Treasure Fund has given special awards within this awards ceremony said the deacon of the University of Applied Arts.

The funds available this year were 1000 dollars. The first place winner Sonja Jovanovic received 500 dollars, the second place winner Goran Micevski received 300 dollars, and two third place winners Jana Nikolic and Aleksandra Momakovic who each received 100 dollars. In additon to the monetary awards and certificates the projects of the winners will be showcased on the Serbian Unity Congress web site and in that get an opportunity to be presented to the world. The selection committee included: Vladimir Vukicevic, a representative from the United States of the Treasure Fund, and professors Branimir Karanovic from the photography and Velja Vukicevic from the ceramics departments.

The Treasure Fund was started with the idea of propagation of the Serbian cultural heritage - to preserve and augment that great wealth from the past, present and future.

The awards given to the best in the graduating art class of the University of Applied Arts fall into the category of the present and future, the idea being to support and promote the talented youth of Serbia.
